Word and SacraamentWorship at Atonement

Worship, centered in the Word and Sacraments, strengthens and renews the gathered assembly as we proclaim God’s saving Gospel of salvation by grace alone. We celebrate Holy Communion at each worship service (except Good Friday). We follow the basic Lutheran liturgical format (Gathering, Word, Meal and Sending), incorporating a variety of musical styles and exercising format options to enhance worship themes and liturgical seasons.

Our worship and music liturgies, hymns and songs are chosen and woven together from a variety of resources including:

  • Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) (www.augsburgfortress.com)

  • Liturgies from GIA Publishing including: Now the Feast and Celebration, Holden Evening Prayer, Unfailing Light, That You May Have Life. (www.giamusic,com)

  • Dakota Road Music: worship songs from Chosen People liturgy and other worship songs written by Larry Olson, Hans Peterson, Karol Baer, Sara Thomsen, James Hersch, and David Lee Brown.  (www.dakotaroadmusic.com)

  • Hymns and songs: new and traditional, familiar and global.

  • Additional worship music from bible camp, area composers and a variety of current Christian music resources.

Accompaniment for worship often includes: organ, piano, percussion, drums, strings, guitars, brass, woodwinds.

We welcome and encourage musicians of all ages to participate in our music and worship program.
