If
Jesus is the reason for the season, is there a reason for having a Bible
around the house?
To Open Scripture
-
Lutheran Study Bible A study Bible that includes unique Lutheran
insights into the study of scripture along with introductions,
notes, and articles written by over sixty Lutheran pastors and
teaching theologians. More than 68 copies of this study bible
have been purchased by members of this congregation for personal use
and as gifts to friends and family. More than 68 new reasons
for having a Bible around the house?
-
Spark Bible
“Makes me feel”; “Reminds me of” Reformation Sunday — a red
letter day in more ways than one! Third graders received their
own copy of the Book of Faith! In this case, a Bible designed
especially for kids in the third to the sixth grades — a Bible
designed to help them explore God’s Word in a personal way — a Bible
designed to make it easy for them to interact with God's Word — a
Bible with questions (and stickers) to help kids make their book of
faith their own as they engage God’s Word in a personal way.

To Join the Conversation
-
This is the
season of Advent! When better to join the conversation than
during this New Year! Where better to join the conversation
than in the home! Opening scripture can be a family endeavor —
both the Lutheran Study Bible and the Spark Bible are NRSV
translations BUT the conversation does not depend upon the study
bible or the translation! Start the conversation with your
Bible and keep it going. You might find the following web site
to be a useful tool as you join this grace-giving conversation:
-
www.enterthebible.org
A reference tool prepared by Luther
Seminary. As the introduction to the web site states: “a
wealth of resources to help you grow in your faith, add depth to
your Bible studies and truly discover the people, places and events
of the Bible. Think of Enter the Bible as your guide, a
helpful reference tool to accompany you in your reading of the
Bible.”
